End of Term

Well, it is the end of Term 3 already!

Today, we had a fantastic day doing a Technology Challenge.

The school was divided into groups and the aim was to build a freestanding bridge that could bear weight.

Some of the bridges were so strong that Mr Donovan used CHAIRS to test their strength!

Although not all the bridges were strong, rhere was a lot of great learning going on.

The best thing about today was seeing how wonderfully the Wentworth students worked together as teams. They helped and supported each other, which was fantastic to see.

Olympic Champion

Have you ever held an Olympic gold medal?

We have!

Kiwi Joe Sullivan won a gold medal for rowing at the 2012 London Olympics.

He came to Wentworth School to tell us all about the challenges he faced, and how he overcame them to become the best rower in the world.

Joe was inspiring and he made us all think about what WE could achieve if we work hard like he did.

And... he let us all hold his Olympic gold medal!

Science Week

This week was Science Week.

We went to Kelly Tarlton's aquarium...

And went to the college where the Year 13 scientists showed us some of their neat experiments.

Senior Science Day

This week, the College had a Science Day, and the Kea class were invited.

We learnt about pulses, both the food type of pulse and the pulse which you can feel in your body.

We took part in some exciting experiments which involved amazing colour changes and funny noises.

Bee Bots

Each week the Kea Class use BeeBots to help us learn about coding.

We have to think ahead to make the BeeBots move to where we want them to go.

This week, the Year 3s came to help us make mazes for our BeeBots to navigate.

We had a competition to see which group could make their BeeBot travel to the end of the maze without any accidents.

We all worked hard and had fantastic fun.

Intensive Swimming Lessons

In the second and third weeks of Term Two, the Kea Class were lucky enough to participate in intensive swimming lessons at the Leisure Centre.

As well as improving our swimming skills and water confidence, everyone had a great time!

Mother's DayCraft

Mother's Day Jigsaw Craft

For Mother's Day the Kea Class made jigsaw puzzles of themselves.

They stuck their photo onto large ice block sticks,

then turned them over and wrote a message for Mum.

Once they were dry, Mrs Clark cut them up and we tied them with a beautiful ribbon.

Kea visit

We were lucky today to have a special visitor to our class.

Sophie brought in her puppet, Mr Kea.

We thought he was fantastic. He even made a Kea noise!

Welcome to 2016!

We are the Kea Class.

We chose a Kea to represent our class, because just like us, Kea are friendly, strong, good puzzle solvers, cute,
very smart, and precious.
They are also curious and good looking!
